Vitamin
B-12 is a vital 'tonic' for cellular health.
Levels of B-12 tend to decline with age;
however, research shows that maintaining optimum
levels of this important vitamin helps support
healthy mental function in the elderly. Vitamin
B-12 also provides nutritional support for
maintaining a healthy immune system.
This vitamin is found
in significant quantities in red meat,
particularly organ meat such as liver and
kidney, followed by eggs, fish, cheese, and
other meat – so vegetarians should be sure to
find other sources of this vitamin for their
diet.
This vitamin works with
folic acid to synthesize DNA, red blood cells,
and the myelin sheath that surrounds nerve cells
and helps speed the conduction of signals
between nerve cells throughout the body. Like
folic acid, vitamin B-12 also functions as a
'methyl donor.' It carries and donates a
molecule of one carbon and three hydrogen
molecules to other molecules, including cell
membrane components and neurotransmitters. As a
methyl donor, vitamin B-12 is also involved in
homocysteine metabolism and plays a critical
role in proper energy metabolism, immune, and
nerve function.
Liposome technology
helps facilitate the absorption of this
important vitamin by the body.*
